None. As a not-for-profit, social enterprise, we’ve connected more than 16,000 job seekers to career-launching placements over two decades, breaking their ‘no experience, no job’ cycle free of charge.

What makes Career Edge program different?

They feature four key pillars: coaching/mentoring, work-integrated learning, industry knowledge transfer, and networking. Every intern is assigned a personal coach/mentor who typically acts as their direct supervisor.

Which industries does Career Edge hire for?

Our job opportunities are generally in non-regulated fields, such as administration, business, finance, human resources, information technology, and public service. However, we know our job seekers hold diverse educational backgrounds, and we’re always working with our employers to create more career-launching opportunities in other industries. How much do Career Edge placements pay?

The jobseeker groups of

  • Recent postsecondary graduates and people with disabilities earn a base monthly stipend rate of $3,600 before standard deductions.
  • The jobseeker group of skilled newcomers to Canada earns a base monthly stipend rate of $3,850 before standard deductions.

You’ll receive your pay through direct deposit every two weeks. Occasionally, Career Edge employers offer a higher stipend.

Will my employer hire me on full-time when my Career Edge contract ends?

It’s the employer’s decision. Approximately 85% of Career Edge hires secure meaningful, permanent employment within three months of completing their Career Edge placements, either by being retained full-time or by working for a new employer full-time.

How long are Career Edge contracts last for?

Our placement contracts typically range from 4 to 12 months

If I have a disability, is it mandatory to disclose?

Many job seekers struggle with disclosing a disability and requesting accommodations, so we give them the option to register as a person with a disability. This ensures that the employer provides the necessary accommodations you require during the application and interview process, as well as the job opportunities.

Our talent acquisition team coaches job seekers on disclosing their disability to their employer only if they choose to, and they work with Career Edge employers to ensure accommodation requests are fulfilled.

Is there a limit to how many Career Edge jobs can I apply for?

No, but we recommend you only apply to opportunities you’re qualified for. However, after you accept an offer, you cannot apply again.

What is the time-off policy for Career Edge placements?

The policy will comply with provincial employment standards. You’ll arrange the specific days off with your supervisor during your contract.

Does Career Edge offer paid co-ops?

We do sometimes. However, we encourage graduating students to register before they graduate. Graduating students can apply, interview, and receive offers – all while enrolled in studies and/or writing exams, and then start their paid internships immediately after.
