MARKHAM, May 29th, 2017 – Career Edge Organization is pleased to recognize the City of Markham as a valued partner for their continuous hiring of 95 interns over thirteen years. The City has committed to help individuals overcome barriers and launch their careers through paid internships.

From their first hire (Asset Life Cycle Analyst) in November 2003 to their most recent hire (Desktop Deployment Specialist) who will start today, the City of Markham has employed new graduates – some with self-disclosed disabilities – and newcomers to Canada through Career Edge in several municipal functions including but not limited to: administration, engineering, finance, and research. Upon completion of their paid internship, many of these interns were hired on full-time by the City of Markham, or found permanent employment. In 2016, the city hired its highest number of Career Edge interns with 11 interns hired.

Career Edge will formally present Mayor Frank Scarpitti with a valued partner award on June 5 at the City of Markham to recognize the outstanding partnership they have achieved together.
