As we move into the season of celebration, we are proud to mark 25 years of helping people overcome barriers to employment and launch meaningful careers through paid internships.
As we reflect on our journey, we take pride in reaching a significant milestone: 25 years of Career Edge, dedicated to empowering individuals and breaking down barriers to employment.
It was 25 years ago, back in 1996, when Career Edge was conceived by a group of dedicated private sector business leaders, brought together and spearheaded by the late civic visionary David Pecaut. Initially founded to help recent graduates break into the workforce, Career Edge has later expanded to support people with self-declared disabilities and skilled newcomers to Canada and help them write their own stories of success.
It’s been a tough, unpredictable, transformative last couple of years with the global pandemic; however, with the dedication, support, and championing of our employer partners, our coaches and mentors, and our community partners, we have been able to continue transforming the lives of our candidates, facilitating exceptional internship experiences, and empowering individuals to launch careers that matter.
Since 1996, Career Edge has helped launched over 13,000 careers, partnering with over 1,000 Canadian employers from diverse sectors. But we know our work is not done yet. New graduates, people with disabilities, and new immigrants continue to find challenges in kickstarting their careers, and we are committed to helping them succeed.
Here’s to another 25 years of launching careers, breaking employment barriers, and writing stories of success!
